Hiking at the Achensee
The Fürstenhaus am Achensee is the ideal starting point for your hiking holiday in Tyrol. 500 km of marked hiking trails in the Karwendel and Rofan mountains offer something for every hiking taste. Whether you're looking for a panoramic alpine hike or a challenging summit tour to the 2,457m Sonnjoch, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking mountain scenery and views of the lake.
The Achensee is also a great destination for a leisurely hike: experience the Tyrolean countryside on and around the lake on a combined lake and boat hike. On the car-free western shore of the Achensee you can take long walks in idyllic surroundings. Hiking around the Achensee in Austria is so varied.
A 500 metre hike up the Zwölferkopf, ideal for experienced hikers and can be combined with a gondola ride. From the hotel, follow the path to the Rodlhütte, with an optional stop after three kilometers. Enjoy the views of the emerald waters of the Achensee and the mountains. At the top, the terrace of the alpine guesthouse offers food and panoramic views. If you want to, the Karwendel cable car will take you down to the valley in comfort.
The walk from Pertisau via the Gaisalm to Achenkirch is a real highlight. Starting directly from the Fürstenhaus, you can enjoy the proximity of the emerald-green Achensee and the view of the mountains. The Gaisalm can only be reached on foot or by boat and is the perfect place to take a break. The path is rocky and requires sturdy footwear. Return to Pertisau by Regiobus 9550 or by boat.
The 1,000m climb to the Bärenkopf is challenging, but the views are worth it: start in Pertisau and follow the contemplation trail, where you can experience some of the 18 stations. After a break at the Bärenbadalm, the trail climbs steeply through forest and open terrain to the summit. Here you can enjoy panoramic views that remind of the Norwegian fjords. Once at the summit, the return journey is largely along the same route.
Open lifts in summer
From May to October, you can use our summer mountain lifts as a convenient way to get up to the mountains for hiking, climbing or biking. The Karwendelbahn takes you directly to the Zwölferkopf in Pertisau, where you can enjoy breathtaking views at 1,480 meters above sea level. The nearest alpine pasture is not far away. From Maurach, the Rofanseilbahn offers easy access to numerous hikes and spectacular summit tours up to an altitude of 2,299 m. A highlight is the Airrofan Skyglider, which takes you 200 meters down from the Gschöllkopf at 80 km/h - an exciting experience for spectators too.
Biking around the Achensee
Cyclists and mountain bikers also get their money's worth in the Achensee region. The Achensee region is one of the top regions for mountain biking and is a member of the Tyrolean Mountain Bike Specialists and the Bike Trail Tyrol. Mountain biking in Karwendel and Rofan means 250 km of officially approved cycle and mountain bike routes of all levels of difficulty. Whether you prefer a leisurely ride along the lakeshore or a challenging tour into the mountains, you will find your own individual route. During the summer months, our hotel has e-bikes that you can rent from 6 pm for the following day for €39 per day. You are welcome to store your own bikes in our ski and golf room. It can be reached via the hotel entrance in the underground car park.
This loop is ideal for discovering Pertisau and its diversity without overexerting yourself. Enjoy panoramic views and nature in just twelve kilometres. Start on the shores of the Achensee and follow the cycle path along the water's edge. Stop and admire the view, then continue over the Zwölferkopf and into the Dristenaubachtal valley. After a short ride through beautiful countryside, the tour ends in Pertisau at the Langlaufstüberl. The nearby Travel Charme Hotel Fürstenhaus offers culinary delights for connoisseurs.
Enjoy the turquoise waters and shores of the Achensee. The flat cycle path takes you through stunning scenery. Start in Pertisau, follow the promenade and take in the views. A spectacular view awaits you at the southern end of the lake, lined with water plants. Walk along steep rocks and wooden railings to the eastern shore and back. Take a refreshing dip at one of the swimming spots, or finish your walk with a boat trip from one of the jetties on the eastern shore.
This 17 km tour takes you over challenging trails to the Weißenbachalm at 1,600m. Start at the Achensee and follow the cycle path. After 5 km, your steep adventure begins in the Weißenbach Valley. At the top, enjoy the stunning views and take a break at the Weißenbachalm or the Bärenbadalm. The spectacular Tunnel Trail takes you back down along steep paths. Relax on the lakeshore or indulge in culinary delights at the aja Fürstenhaus am Achensee. Tip: The tour is less strenuous on an e-bike.
